How To Print In Black and White in

The Homer Babbidge Library

Here we are going to explain how you can print to a black & white laser printer from InfoCafe One,Level One MicroLab, and MicroLab Lite on Level B.

1. First Pull down the File menu and select Print. A window will pop-up...

2. A print dialog box will pop-up where you can select your method of payment and printer.

If you are using your Husky One Card and:

1) Are in the Microlab... you select CARD_Microlab B&W...

2) Are in the Infocafe... you select CARD_Infocafe B&W...

...And retrieve your print job from the appropriate Print Station (see below).

(You must remember the computer number you are using. It is on the computer.)

If you are using cash, select CASH- B&W...and retrive your print job from the CCS Desk on Level 1.

3. Retrieving jobs at a Print Station:

If you are using your Card and printed from either InfoCafe 1 or 2, go to the far corner of InfoCafe 1 where it says Print Station:
If you are using your Card and printed the Microlab, go to the print station located in the Microlab, next to the CCS Desk:

*Make sure that you wait for the person ahead of you to COMPLETELY finish printing before setting yours to print in order to avoid print queue problems, if the person is still printing it is denoted by three dots (...) next to their print job.

4. Select your job from the list (based on Computer Number and Document), your print cost, pages to be printed and copies of those pages is all displayed at the top, from there click "Print".

5. Next you swipe your card with the black bar on the back facing towards you:

6. Your job will print at the printer next to the print station.

Troubleshooting
  • My job isn't in the list.

It was either deleted or hasn't entered the queue yet. Jobs are deleted from the print queue one hour after they are sent. If it has been less than an hour, you may need to wait a bit.

  • The printer is printing my file very slowly.

If you are printing a file which is very large, then it is taking the printer more time to read. Common types of large files are Adobe Acrobat files (.PDF files) and PowerPoint presentations. You may want to consider printing these files out on either the Microlab or InfoCafe01 printers next time. They have more memory and are able to handle these files more quickly than the B Lab printer.

  • Right after I click Print the computer beeps and does nothing.

The job you are trying to print costs more money than is on your card. Add more money to your card and try again.
