Course ReservesTraditional Course ReserveMaterials held in Archives & Special Collections (A&SC) may be placed on reserve for use by scheduled UConn courses. Reserve materials must be consulted in the McDonald Reading Room. Regular hours of operation during the academic semester are Mondays, 10am-7pm; Tuesdays-Fridays, 10am-4pm; and Saturdays, noon-4pm. To request that items held by A&SC be placed on reserve, please contact Laura Katz Smith, 860.486.2516. Electronic Course Reserve (ECR)ECR is a Web based service designed to enhance access to reserve materials by eliminating access constraints of time and place. It offers reserve materials over the campus network via HuskyCT. A&SC materials may be placed on ECR unless fragile condition or donor restrictions prohibit reproduction. When materials are copyrighted, or suspected to be copyrighted, the instructor must work closely with the A&SC staff to facilitate their use. Requests for the inclusion of unpublished works on ECR are evaluated using the four factor fair-use analysis tool and potential collection restrictions. Instructors must consult with A&SC curators before submitting an application to the UConn Libraries’ ECR office. Please allow ample time if your curriculum calls for the use of A&SC materials.
